| Caregivers |
Anyone in a stable home
setting (owned or rented) may apply to be a caregiver.
- What are the physical requirements for a
home? The home must be clean and in good repair. There
must be a separate room with window and door for the client.
Bathroom may be shared. Two clients may share a room if it
is large enough.
- Does my home have to be handicap accessible?
Only if the client requires such accessibility. Often our
clients are fully ambulatory.
- What geographic area is eligible? We are in
Massachusetts and generally cover Essex County towns. If you
live outside of that area, contact us to find the program
nearest you.
- Do I have a choice in the client or type of
client that I might get? Yes. Our program is completely voluntary.
There is a thorough matching process during which the client
and caregiver get to know each other and decide if the match
is right for them.
- May I be a caregiver if I have a job? It depends.
Often our clients have programs or jobs themselves during
the day. If your schedule allows time for proper client attention
and care, a job does not disqualify you as a caregiver.
- Who pays? Adult Foster Care is a MassHealth
program. Our clients pay a "room and board" charge
(like rent) on the first of the month, and MassHealth pays
the rest.
- How do I find out if I am right for the
program? Contact us for information. We are available
to answer your questions.
