What is Adult Foster Care?
AFC is a MassHealth program that provides in-home support to individuals who need assistance with daily living activities due to medical or cognitive conditions. It allows eligible adults to live with caregivers, often family members, who provide 24-hour care and support, while also receiving a tax-free stipend and support from a care team.

Eligibility:
Individuals must be 16 years or older, eligible for MassHealth (Medicaid), and require assistance with at least one Activity of Daily Living (ADL) (such as bathing, dressing, eating, etc.).
Caregiver Role:
Caregivers can be family members or friends who provide 24-hour care and support within their own home.
Compensation:
Caregivers receive a monthly, tax-free stipend, as well as ongoing training and support from a care team.
Care Team:
A nurse and care manager regularly visit the member and caregiver to assess individual needs and provide support.
